If you’ve been out and about in Thailand today you’ve probably noticed that a lot of Thai people are wearing yellow shirts. This is because today marks the 70th anniversary of his Majesty King Bhumibol’s accession to the throne. All across the land of smiles, people are wearing yellow shirts to honor this occasion. King Bhumibol is the longest reigning Monarch in the world and is revered across the nation.
Royal ceremonial emblems will be seen in many places today and there will also be a lot of activities around the place to celebrate this milestone. His Majesty was born on December 5th 1927 in Cambridge Massachusetts, USA and on June 9 1946 he succeeded his brother as King. Since then he has committed himself to the nation and its people in a very Kingly manner. Here at RL Phuket we would like to acknowledge this special occasion.
