The islands in Thailand are great places to go if you want to relax and unwind. The only problem is that getting to them can be a long and stressful chore that isn’t always worth the trip. One such island is Koh Phangan. At the moment, the only way to get to the island is to catch a ferry from Surat Thani, which is 55 kilometers away, or from Koh Samui, which is 15 kilometers away.

Originally, the Koh Phangan airport was set to open in 2014 but after some delays it now seems that it will be launched in late 2017. No buildings have been built as yet, but who knows? Maybe the project will go full steam ahead.

When the airport eventually does open, things will become a lot easier for party goers and island hoppers. Commercial airlines will transport passengers to and from the island, eliminating the long and tedious ferry trips. In the meantime, we’ll just have to bear the ferry trips.
