Mother’s day falls on different dates all around the world. In most countries it is either celebrated in March or May, but in Thailand it is celebrated on August 12 because that is the Queen of Thailand’s Birthday. Leading up to that date, the Queen’s flag is ubiquitously shown around the nation and in certain areas, parades and displays also take place.

Queen Sirikit was born in 1932 and became Queen regent in 1956. She is the longest reigning consort of a Monarch, in history. Here at RL Phuket we would like to wish her a very happy birthday and we hope that August 12 this year will be a very joyous occasion for everyone in Thailand.
