With the advent of the Internet and easy access photography, many wonderful possibilities have arisen for mankind. Imagination is the limit for all the things that we can now do. One of the many awe inspiring trends to have come out of this age of accelerated information is the ability to sext. Sexting is the sending of photos and messages of a sexual nature via smart phones or other gizmos to that special someone in your life; a special gift for those precious moments.
In the case of TV Asahi’s Bureau chief in Bangkok, a sext wasn’t just sent out to one person however, it was sent out to an entire forum that had been specially set up by the Thai Foreign Ministry, for foreign journalists working in Thailand. Late last Monday, the Bureau chief intended to send the image to a female member but accidentally uploaded the photo to around 150 journalists, all belonging to the forum. Upon realizing his mistake the Bureau chief hastily left the forum in search of some sand to stick his head in, but of course the damage had already been done.
Surprisingly, TV Asahi’s Bureau chief in Bangkok has since been fired. A ministry official stated on Saturday that the sext was extremely inappropriate and that action would be taken. (Here’s hoping that these actions won’t involve retaliatory photos.)
With so many people sexting in today’s society (don’t pretend, we know you do it too) this incident is a relatable faux pas. It’s easy to sit back and laugh but it’s also a cautionary tale that everyone needs to be careful when they’re putting things out there. No one wants to accidentally send a sext to their mother.
