2015 is almost at an end and it’s safe to say it’s been a pretty big year all around the world. There have been good things and bad. There have been acts of terror but at the same time there have also been tremendous acts of bravery. With every senseless attack, there have been everyday people who have stood up to the attackers and in some cases have even used their own bodies to shield others. When people sacrifice themselves to save others it is truly inspiring but acts of heroism aren’t only committed by humans, many animals have been known to sacrifice themselves as well. Here are just a few cases where animals have been heroic over the years.
Scarlet the Cat
Probably the most famous cat in the world, Scarlet was known for dragging her 5 kittens one by one from a burning building in Brooklyn back in 2008. She faced the flames five times, sustaining severe burns in the process. Upon making sure she’d saved all her kittens, she collapsed. A fire fighter observed her act of bravery and saved her, along with the kittens. An award has been named in her honor and she has since become a celebrity all around the world.
Khan the Doberman
A newly adopted doberman proved his worth one day when the family toddler was playing by the side of the house and a King Brown Snake was nearby. Khan picked up the toddler by the diaper and threw her to safety but was bitten by the snake in the process. Miraculously Khan survived.
Lulu the Pot Belly Pig
Lulu’s owner suffered a heart attack one day and Lulu ran out of the house and out onto the road in front of traffic, causing cars to stop. One driver got out and followed the pig back to the house, where the owner was discovered and rushed to hospital.
