Christmas is a time for family and friends, a time to look back at the year gone by and ahead to the year to come. For many it is a joyous time
of the year but for others it is just a sad reminder that other people are happy. A lot of people out there don’t have the money or family to enjoy
this special occasion.
Luckily there is a very caring and charitable organisation right here on Phuket. The Seed of Cherngtalay International Church has started a charity service
for children who are too poor to receive presents this Christmas. Titled ‘Seeds of Love’, the service provided 170 gifts to needy children aged 1-14 at the Baan Karn Keha Government housing estate on the 19th of December and they will also give out even more gifts at the Chatchai Community Centre on the 20th. Donors from all around the island and the rest of the world gave to the organisation. On boxing day, another 150 boxes will be given out.
This act of kindness and good will is a spirited reminder that we all should give where we can. It’s great to see friends and family on Christmas but spare
a thought for those who have none. And remember, you can always make a difference for the better in a Stranger’s life. A simple gesture such as a smile on
Christmas day can do a world of good.
