Thailand has welcomed its 30 millionth visitor of the year in early December. The Kingdom is proving to be the biggest player in the tourism industry, and they know how to make a fuss over it.
Junyi Huang from Guangzhou, China, arrived in Bangkok on December 5 and was seemingly unaware of the ceremony that awaited her at Suvarnabhumi Airport. She was this year’s “Thailand’s luckiest visitor”, a campaign launched in 2015 by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
As Miss Huang reached the height of 30 million, she was treated to a limousine ride from the airport to her Bangkok hotel, received two economy-class return tickets to Thailand and a voucher for five nights in one of Thailand’s luxury hotels in Bangkok, Pattaya or Hua Hin. As if this wasn’t enough she was also gifted a new mobile phone and a certificate celebrating her visit.
Thailand is well aware of the reliance on tourism and continue to push for higher levels of visitation. And clearly, they’re happy about their successes!
