Checklist: Thailand

Finally you have booked your trip of a lifetime to Thailand and counting down the days till departure.
A new place is always exciting especially if you backpack the country so it can happen that you might forget the one or another essential thing to bring with you. With the following basic Checklist you will make sure to be prepared.
passportEnsure your passport has 6 months validity from date of travel: You won’t be able to travel if your passport is due to expire within 6 months. Check whether you are eligible for a free visa on arrival, read more information here.
48891Travel Insurance: Make sure you got a valid travel insurance you never know what will happen even in Paradise.
Take two photocopies of your passport/ticket/insurance details and other important documents, leave one set with someone at home and take a copy with you.
Animals-Mosquito-iconInsect Repellent/medicines: Generally the most common symptoms for tourists in Thailand are stomach ache caused by any kind of contaminated food or water, so be cautious what you drink and eat upon your arrival in Thailand. Concerning the Mosquitos and other insects it’s highly suggested to use an insect repellent at all times.
Unlocked mobile phone & charger: Thai sim cards are available all over Thailand, and they are super cheap. If you are staying for a little while I’d suggest getting a sim card, they have a great data allowance so you can chat to your friends back home and avoid those huge data roaming charges.
Essential clothes/toiletries: Pack lightly, Thailand is hot and it’s easier to get around with a small backpack. Take lightweight t-shirts, shorts & swimsuits. Ladies, if you are planning to visit the temples in Bangkok you will need to cover your shoulders and knees. Anything you will need is easy to buy and super cheap in the markets in Bangkok. There are also laundry facilities pretty much everywhere and like all things in Thailand, it’s cheap!
A smile: After all Thailand is the land of smiles with friendly and helpful locals.
Once you got these basics right you will enjoy your tip of a lifetime in Thailand
