There’s great news for tourists traveling through Thailand who don’t value their privacy. The Junta led Thai government recently revealed its plan to monitor Tourists in the country at all times via a special SIM card that will be installed in mobile phones.
The Secretary General of the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, Takorn Tantasith, announced that the plans for this wonderful invasion of privacy are currently being reviewed. With a bit of luck, tourists will be tracked like common criminals within the next six months.
It won’t just be tourists who will be locked into the gaze of the All seeing Thai- Eye, all people without a Thai passport will be treated with the same level of mistrust. Tourists will always be easy to locate with this amazing new SIM. It’s just another glorious step forward in gaining total control over the populus.
If you have a global roaming service from your own country, you’ll be able to avoid this new SIM card but the option will still be available, should you want the Thai authorities to keep track of your daily routines. Ostensibly this new measure is for National security reasons and to prevent cross border crimes but with a bit of luck it will heavily impinge on civil rights and privacy issues as well.
