Early in the morning of August 2nd, former Senator of Phuket, Paiboon Upatising, passed away after his long battle with colorectal cancer. Since his untimely death, many mourners have come to pay their respects.
Politicians from around the country went to his home to lay wreaths on the walls, as did members of many other organizations and churches. Condolence notes were also lined up along the walls, one of which came from the Mayor of Patong, Chalermluck Kebsup. The Phuket Hokkien association and the Phuket elderly association also paid their respects through letters of sorrow. Other notable mourners were the present Governor of Phuket, Nisit Jansomwong and the Phuket provincial police Commander, Major general Pachara Boonyasit.
At the time of his death, Mr Paiboon Upatising had been suspended from his role as the president of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (PPAO). This suspension was enforced without payment, however the PPAO Chief Administrative officer, Watcharin Patomwatthanapong, has stated that the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization will now be helping Mr Paiboon’s family with financial support, due to the unfortunate circumstances.
