Two blasts in Patong this morning have left one man injured.
One of the blasts occurred at the Bangla Police Box at 8am. The other blast reportedly happened at Loma Park, where provincial officials were conducting public Mother’s Day ceremonies, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation officer Sampawat Wannasangkam told the Phuket Gazette.
The immediate area has been cordoned off and the injured man has been taken to Patong Hospital, confirmed the official.
This morning’s Patong blast is the latest in a string of suspected bomb explosions in the south of Thailand. One person was killed and 21 injured in a bomb attack in Hua Hin last night and another was killed and several injured in a double blast this morning in Surat Thani.
Phuket Provincial Police Commander Teeraphol Thipjaroen urged residents to keep an eye out for suspicious items.
“Meanwhile, we are examining CCTV as part of our investigations,” said the police chief.
