Forecasts are predicting continued heavy rain for many provinces in the south of Thailand. Phuket has been experiencing heavy rainfall of late and this is set to continue into the first half of the week. The recent rains in Phuket, however, are mild compared to the flooding and storms that have been experienced in other southern provinces in recent months. Thirteen provinces in total have been warned of heavy rains and possible flash floods over the next few days.
The 13 provinces receiving the weather warning include – Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan in the lower Central portion of the country. Many more occur in the southern reaches of the Kingdom, including – Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
The Meteorological Department makes these predictions after observing active low pressure over the Andaman Sea and the South and west coast moving north. Maybe switch your beach plans for an indoor activity for a few days.
