Miss Thailand makes up for no swimwear with peacock costume

Atcharee Buakiew, 20, of Thailand was victorious at this year’s National Costume Contest held in Manila on Monday. Miss Thailand’s success was in the Prestigious Costume round, winning with an elaborate and stunning peacock feathered outfit. The bird is considered to represent grace in many parts of northern Thailand. And graceful she was in her victory.
Out of respect for the late King Miss Buakiew decided to opt out of the swimwear competition but this didn’t damage her showing in other rounds. After her success Miss Buakiew will be returning to study at Chiang Mai University with a Sufficiency Economy Scholarship program which was initially set up by HM King Bhumibol. Beautiful and clever, Miss Thailand has it all.
