Sabrina Terence is the leading DJ in Dubai and one of top female DJs in the world!
We would like to thank Cecilia Pietre for all the efforts and organization she has put into this in order to support and promote Sabrina all the way. Many events were organized and planned by Cecilia and her club BCBG (www.cecibcbg.com) and for Sabrina it was very important to mention all this accordingly and to thank her personally. Also we would like to highlight the great location provided by Cecilia at le Versace Patong (leversace.com) which offers stunning views of Patong Bay combined with a great menu with many mouthwatering dishes and cocktail creations.
As you have been working as a model for over 10 years before becoming a dj do you think that this is the perfect combination to be successful? What do you prefer being a model or a dj and did your model skills help you to evolve in the DJ industry?
I definitely think looking good helps to promote you especially as a DJ. The look sells whether it is on flyers or promo posters. I am not scared to expose myself in a sexy way to promote my work. I am very active in my work and like to interact with the crowd. So many times, you will see me actually dancing with the crowd on the dj booth and searching for the eye contact. Only then, you can really see what the crowd likes and what they want.
Sabrina its no secret that you look exceptional so please tell us what is your secret to stay in such a good shape?
Oh, thank you. Actually since I stopped modeling, I gained around 10 kgs. As a model, I used to be the slim type with no curves at all. Now I got at least woman curves which I like. I feel comfortable and sexy with it and I think it suits me better.
Tell us how an ordinary day of Sabrina Terance looks like after a big night as a performing DJ?
Well as I come back home late mostly after finishing my set as DJ I try to get around 7 to 8 hours sleep at least in order to look fresh. My secret is a lot of water and Vitamin D, which I get while relaxing on the beach. Especially in Thailand I like to relax with a typical massage or an awesome day at the beach.
Everybody always thinks being a DJ means drinking a lot of Alcohol. Is it true please tell us more about this rumor?
Well I have 2 alcoholic drinks at max. I focus on drinking a lot of water in order to perform well. If I am drunk I’m scared to fall while I’m dancing lol and also drunken DJs are unacceptable. I do prefer vodka tonic even though I am German I do hate beer.
Being a top DJ from Dubai and constantly standing in the spot light how does your sexy instagram pictures for example are accepted in this normally more censored country?
Well in the end pictures are just pictures right. Everybody has the right to have nice pictures on Facebook or wherever published. Especially for Dubai where the nightlife consists 80 percent out of Expats and 20 percent from the locals. The most important is how you behave and respect in person the habits and culture of the country you live in and therefore I can say it’s not a problem at all.
So you mean there are two Sabrinas?
Yes definitely. There is the private Sabrina who blends in perfectly with the daily life in Dubai and its habits plus there is the DJ Sabrina who is famous for her outfits and performances in Dubai nightlife.
Comparing the western mentality with the eastern mentality, would you say that Dubai is your final destination?
Not at all. I will be actually moving next year. I reach now 10 years in Dubai so I think my time has come to try something else beyond being a dj and move on to something new exciting. In Dubai I have reached everything what I wanted so there is nothing left for me. A good time to explore something new. I think mostly I will move to LA, USA which I find very interesting- I will follow my heart.
So tell us what is your favorite Holiday Destination?
Definitely Thailand lol. This time I came with my mum, as I wanted to show her this nice country. She always said it’s too far but this time I just booked our tickets and dragged her along. She really likes it for now just that’s its quite hot for us as we forgot it’s the hot season. Therefore, we will be back in November or December.
What do you think will Asia ever coming up with something exciting in the world of music or you think Europe will still dominate the trend setting hits?
Actually, Europe is not dominating at all. I think the US giving us the pace and the hits. Everything coming from the States will be a worldwide number one hit. In Thailand for example they have a good DJ the best example is DJ Nakadia with whom I worked together in the past when I just started my career in Dubai. She is well known internationally and made her way to the top.
The most important thing is for me to have a good music video alongside with your track so Thailand is very famous for shooting music videos for international top djs and stars.
Why do we have only Europeans in the top Global Dj Ranking?
It is very tough to get inside and I do believe money is playing a big role nowadays to be pushed forward. Of course, if you have a marketing team of 20 up people they will push you all the way through.
Therefore, you are saying money is before talent.
Well, money rules of course like everywhere. The most important thing is to promote yourself in order to be successful globally.
Do you think producing your own track is a key success factor in order to be a number one DJ?
Yes, of course it is very important to have your own tracks. I try to produce new songs every 2 to 3 years. My new song “Higher” is coming out very soon you can listen to it on my Facebook page (female.dj). I will be back in Thailand every 2 to 3 month, as Illuzion club in Patong will promote me further. This is where I played my new song as well while dancing on the DJ booth.
