Thailand is a place of beauty, not just in its natural environment but also in the fashion and style of the Thai people. Beauty pageants are very popular in Thailand and a lot of care and consideration is given to the costumes. This year, the Miss Grand Thailand contest had some amazing outfits, based on classic Thai themes and eras. Each province of Thailand had its own unique interpretation. Here are the top 5 designs.
1. Miss Tak
This stunning costume was inspired by King Taksin the Great, who ruled during the Thonburi Dynasty.
2. Miss Sukhothai
This dress was inspired by the attire of people from Thailand’s ancient capital city, Sukhothai, during the reign of King Ramkhanhaeng.
3. Miss Chiang Rai
This outfit was based on the headdresses and accessories worn by hill tribe people in the region.
4. Miss Ayutthaya
Elephants are the national animal of Thailand so it was fitting that Ayutthaya chose the white elephant statues of a famous temple in the province as its inspiration.
5. Miss Roi Et
To call someone a buffalo in Thailand is an insult but buffaloes are very important for the plowing of rice, the Thais depend on them heavily. This is why Roi Et incorporated the buffalo into its design.
