For many expats and tourists, the fourth of July is just another day to laze around on the beach and enjoy the tropical atmosphere. For Americans though, the fourth of July marks the nation’s Independence Day, the day in 1776 when the country broke away from the British Empire to become the United States.
Independence Day is also the National Day of America, so expect to see the star spangled banner in a lot of western pubs and bars around Thailand. Red, White and Blue will be the colors of the day in many places. One of the best places to celebrate the occasion is at the American Embassy, where American beer, Hamburgers, fries and other American style dishes are served.
So if you’re an American citizen and you want to celebrate your independence, contact your Embassy to find out when and where they celebrate the occasion. Happy 4th of July Y’all.
