For 4 consecutive year Phuket was observing and participating in an exclusive yachting event Kata Rocks’ Superyacht Rendezvous. This year despite all difficulties was not an exception, and on 10-12 December there was a 5th event, which was not without surprises. But first things first.
First day traditionally started with partner briefing in Kata Rocks and continued with gathering together, resort tour and BBQ in the evening.
On the second day since morning guests and participants had the chance to discover yachts moored next to the resort. The weather on Friday was awesome and everyone made tons of photos on the background of a fleet and blue water of Andaman Bay. At 10 AM all yachts with guests departed to InterContinental Resort Phuket. We were on a beautiful yacht called ‘Sanook’. A real 23m house on water with 4 bedrooms, living area and kitchen. Honestly, 2 hours passed unnoticed and here we go, going on a small motor boats to the beach. And what is in there? We were welcomed by the friendly family of InterContinental Resort with exotic flower garlands, cold towels and a glass of champagne. Buffet with exquisite food, premium alcohol, best Cuban cigars. And all these together with stunning views and friendly atmosphere. During the brunch we had a chance to take some interviews that you very welcome to watch on our YouTube channel and moreover, to live this 2nd day of Kata Rocks’ Superyacht Rendezvous with us.
At around 3 PM we left to get back to Kata Rocks. At this time we were invited to 32m ‘Demarest’ yacht that has 5 bedrooms and can occupy up to 12 guests overnight.
After arriving all guests had a rest and prepared for the next day surprise, Poker Run.
So, the third day of the event has come. The start of the Poker Run was scheduled at Kata Rocks. Before the race’s start, the participants were served with a delicious breakfast followed by registration and briefing. The idea of the event is to collect the best set of cards (like in poker), making stops in the most picturesque spots of the island and its surroundings. The whole race took place on boats. At 09:50 all boats departed to the first check point at Angsana Laguna Phuket. At 10:30 am we arrived at Xana Beach Club’s pier. Came running to the beach, we pulled out a card from the deck offered to us by the staff, we made selfies with it (the card), got some food and ran back to the boat. It should be noted that the waves at the pier reached almost 2 meters, so jogging on the bridge of boats turned out to be another adventure.
The second map was waiting for us in Ao Por Grand Marina, the third we pulled out on the small island of Koh Rang Noi, for the fourth we went to Banana beach, and the last, the 5th, was at the finish line of the race, in Kata Rocks.
Honestly, despite the adrenaline rush from the desire to win, we had a great time. During these few days, all the participants became one big family.
Upon returning to Kata Rocks, we had a late lunch with delicious burgers, beer and soft drinks, and, of course, the announcement of the results. After that, we all went to rest, because in the evening there was the grandiose closing party of Kata Rocks’ Superyacht Rendezvous.
